Great time!

If you missed the God Is Crazy About You tour with Mark Lowry this past weekend at Northwood Temple - try not to miss him the next time he gets close by - this guy is quite an entertainer.

Being relatively new to the Christian Music format(s) - although familiar with hymns and the like; I hadn't heard of Mark Lowry before - until we recently partnered with Premier Productions to help bring his tour to town. That was - Until - he sang "Mary Did You Know"... Then it clicked who this guy was!

WOW.

I had the privilege of singing with a rather large choir not so long ago - and remember our music department bringing in Mr. Lowry (on a pure 'composer' level) to help us prepare for an upcoming Christmas cantata - which - included the hymn/song "Mary Did You Know" - composed by Mark Lowry. Needless to say - when the composer of a song personally directs a choir singing his song, you can imagine the beautiful result.

That was many years ago - and having this recent opportunity to witness his God-given talents again was simply delightful. Especially in this type of performance - Funny, personable, thought-provoking and topical - Mark Lowry's "God Is Crazy About You Tour" showcased Mr. Lowry's singing talents, comic talents and a warm way of relating God's message to an audience of young and old alike. Blending new material with 'well-known' favorite stories, Mark Lowry simply didn't miss a beat.

Neither did his guests. Joining Mr. Lowry was pianist (at least during this performance) Stan Whitmire and the newly expanded vocal group Lordsong. Being more familiar with the contemporary christian music formats - I went to this "Gospel-flavored" show, if you will, without any expectations and came away - once again - remembering that when 'many are gathered in His name - He too will be there'... A very fine evening of praise and worship indeed. If you get the chance - check him out; you'll be glad you did.
