Steve the Afternoon Guy's going to Swaziland!

(Q) Ok, South Africa... what led you to want to go to South Africa - Swaziland of all places... ?

(A) Christian 107.3 was invited by Mission of Mercy to head up this trip to Swaziland in Southern Africa. The people there are impacted so much by disease, HIV/AIDS in particular. When we began to learn about the many orphaned children who are greatly in need of care, we couldn't wait to sign up.

(Q) Have you done any mission work before? (Local and/or abroad)

(A) I was involved in a 7-day mission trip to Kingston, Jamaica when I was 17 and my wife Debbie was an adult chaperone on a week-long trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica.

(Q) What do you expect to find when you get there?

(A) We are partnering with an organization (Children's Cup) that establishes centers to care for children. I imagine we will meet come children that are doing well because of the Mercy Centers and many not yet in the centers that are struggling.

(Q) Do you know exactly what you'll be doing once there?

(A) The plan is to divide our group into three teams: a construction team to work on a new center, a VBS team to conduct Bible-centered programs for children at existing centers and a medical team to provide medical care for the children.

(Q) How long will you be gone?

(A) 11 days total. - Aug 3&4 - travel days, Aug 5 - rest & orientation, Aug 6 thru 10 - ministry days, Aug 11 - visit to game preserve, Aug 12 & 13 - travel home.

Another reason to love your Afternoon Guy, Steve Turley - God Bless you brother - We'll be praying with you from here to Swaziland and back home.

Now, let's see what Jessica has to say...
