Some Groove News: Casting Crowns & Leeland

Casting Crowns bested tobyMac and Jeremy Camp to win the Favorite Artist trophy in the Contemporary Inspirational category at the 2007 American Music Awards, broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. Winners at the ceremony were decided for the first time via online voting. The honor follows the recent RIAA Gold certification the band received for their third album, The Altar and the Door, as well as their seventh consecutive radio hit, "East to West."

Alt-worship band Leeland has wrapped production on its upcoming album, Opposite Way, which releases on February 26. The new disc was produced once again by Matt Bronleewe. "Opposite Way is a call to our generation to passionately walk the 'opposite way' of the world, that it's OK to live the Christian life and be on fire for God, even if it makes us look different," says bandleader Leeland Mooring. "We want to encourage, inspire and raise up a new generation of worshippers." [Source: Christian Music Today]
