MY 107 SECONDS: JACKIE "C.’s" STORY

Jackie’s letter touched us because it not only came in the form as a ‘thank-you’ letter … but it also served as a good reminder for us, that, as Paul says in the bible – “…that in Christ, we can do all things.” There’s another good reminder in Jackie C.’s story too; in Job 6:14 – we’re told, “To him who is about to faint and despair – kindness is due from his friend – lest he forsake the fear of the almighty”. This friend of Jackie’s showed this kindness her, by turning her to Christ – versus trying to solve their friend’s problem on their own. One additional note: We have a few ‘Jackies’ who’ve submitted their 107 seconds; and we thought we’d point that out; so someone won’t confuse the stories of these individual ladies, named Jackie. That said; here’s this week’s: My 107 Seconds, from Jackie “C”:

I hope this (email) encourages you by letting you know that God is working in mighty ways through your ministry at this station. Five years ago I was a crack addict and a prostitute. A friend invited me to church and I gave my life to Jesus. However, my addiction was still seeking to control me. It took another year to finally win the battle. I must tell you that your radio station has played one of the biggest roles in my recovery.

I often had no choice but to travel the same roads that my ‘dealers’ lived on as this was the same area my family lived in. My urge to use (drugs) often threatened to overwhelm me. But in every instance the Lord never failed to use you to encourage me, whether it was through songs that spoke straight to my heart or a message from God’s word.

There were many times that I am sure my life would have taken the wrong turn had it not been for you. I am thankful beyond words for the work all of you do. I now work with kids with disabilities, have started a homebound ministry through a local mission, and am married to that “friend” who invited me to church. Your role in my life now has changed into something deeper and even more powerful as my relationship with Christ grows. Never doubt the image of Christ you portray! You never know who He will have tuning in!
